Things I've found and loved | Sept 2019

Best of Sept 2019 | Geek Queen

Watching: TED Talk Christchurch - Constance Hall

Whether you love her or think she's a goose, Constance Hall has always stood for what she believes amid some horrific online bullying. Her TED talk about the results of that harassment is something you should watch.

I particularly love how she says we must stop referring to it as online bullying as it is virtually impossible to be offline these days.

Let me know what you think.

Also Watching: Modus

Modus - SBS On Demand
This series follows an ex FBI profiler, Inger Johanne Vik when her Autistic daughter witnesses a murder.

She finds herself once again immersed into the investigation. It shows the challenges she faces being a single mother while having to be there for her daughters and see the pathology of some pretty horrific acts. Even though its in Swedish, its pretty easy to follow, however I do get a big mixed up with the names on occasion.

I've just started the second series, which I'm actually liking more than the first.

SBS On Demand in Australia.

Learning: Product SEO Updates

Product SEO in  2019 - YouTube

I'm a huge Neil Patel fan and while his video's might be a little over your head, you can always get the basics of what he's teaching.

Reading: The Secret Runners Of New York

The Secret Runners Of New York
If you are struggling to get your male companion to read, try the Scarecrow series, starting with Ice Station. This is the book that got Brad reading. If you know me personally, after you've read it email me and tell me I'm NOT mother! You'll know what I mean once you've read it.
I've always loved Matthew Reilly. His Scarecrow action series is some of my favourite reading with Ice Station being my go to beach holiday read every few years.

This new book feels like we go back to the style of Contest, his first ever book. It's set in New York again (hence the title I guess!), but this story is based around a group of teenagers who have discovered a portal into another time.

Even though it is probably aimed at the 17-25 age group, I didn't feel like I was reading a teen book.

His alternate alien, universe style of stories are always so well written that they are believable by the time you get to the end of the book.

I loved it and if you are looking for a good easy to read action story, this will be for you. If you do read it and like it, PLEASE try Hover Car Racer. I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. I think because we lived in the north west of WA where the kids in this book are from, its the ultimate underdog story and the racing feels like a version of the Jet Sprint racing Brad used to do.

Meet Jason Chaser - Hover Car Racer! Love it!

About Jenny

I started my IT career in Database Administration and .Net coding. While I LOVED that work, I realised very quickly that I also wanted a life. To be a top end coder or DB Admin, you have to comit your downtime to constantly learning and evolving and while that is also something I love, I wanted it to be my work and not my life. So I morphed my love of design with my knowledge of all things SEO and moved into building small business websites.

Why small business websites? I'm a small business myself and I know how hard it can be so I wanted to give my clients a great service, with an approachable point of contact where no question was a "stupid question".
